I’ve just taken down www.AuctionCentral.ie after waiting over 2 months to be paid. Emails were flying to and fro from various people in their office while the site was being built to a deadline and as soon as the invoice went out, almost no comms! Par for the course these days unfortunately as companies like this believe they can rob people. Seems the idea that the site was setup to promote has died so probably not much chance of getting paid ever.

The Future is Local

We all know it takes a while to get paid sometimes and in this recession even longer but I’ve only ever had a couple of companies not pay me at all so far. Here’s one – www.futureislocal.com Despite my usual efforts to extract long overdue payments from clients this company has not paid a penny of the web design fee and domain/hosting costs I invoiced them for way back in August 2008. Whats worse, promises were made then broken and communication is crap. It seems this is a lost cause..

Anthony Harris & Co Solicitors

Anthony Harris have handled a few cases for me in the last 10 years or so including 2 estate settlements and a repayment application and the service has been inadequate in each one. I was in correspondence with them regarding a recent nursing home repayment scheme application for my granny which they assured me would definitely yield a considerable amount of cash. I was kept informed of initial efforts and status but we ran into a problem when the executors of my granny’s will refused to provide the necessary signatures. Read the full article »

I’ve been checking out the property websites regularly over the last year or so in search of something special and of good value and a couple of times (for the same house actually) I’ve clicked on the “Arrange a Viewing” link on the SherryFitzGerald.ie site and took the time to fill out their form. I done it once a few months ago and once this week and low and behold I never heard back from anyone either time! Isn’t that a bit strange in a time of crisis for estate agents!? Is it just another case of a business ignoring its website comms?

Northern Ireland Killings

Bad news stories are ten a penny these days but theres something profoundly depressing about the news of the killings in the North this week. I think its the shock factor that’s caught us all off guard. We had become smug and cosy in the perceived knowledge that we had put our violent past to bed and become one of the few waring countries to see sense and stop killing each other.

Its nice to see the parties and people up north, here and in the UK uniting to condenm the killings so lets hope this is only a blip and that we have indeed put violence to rest here and can continue to set an example to the rest of the world but I have my doubts. If there are lunatics out there that are prepared to SO go against the common flow then we should brace ourselves..

Ebay Messages Problem

Here we go again. I’m trying to sell a stick of RAM and have been in contact with a potential buyer who seems interested in buying it. They’ve been asking questions about compatability etc and I responded to their first question but they’ve sent a second one which doesn’t show up in ‘My Messages’ on the ebay.ie site and I can neither respond directly from outlook or respond to the first question they sent as I’ve “Already responded”. If I can’t give the buyer the info they want, they’ll be off. Well done ebay.
