I'd wanted to do something with mirrors for quite a while. Like an optical illusion where you see something different than expected in the mirror.
Similarly to most of my projects, the shoot consisted of just two photos. One with the model in front of the mirror and one of the same scene without the model. I then combined the two photos in photoshop and replaced the contents of the mirror with a simple colour similar to the walls of the room. I then cut off the bits of the model outside the mirror to make it look like a reflection, but with no camera visible (the optical illusion part!) before adding some light and shade to the mirror area and changing the overall levels and colour.
I created some (meaningful to me) text based on Eckhart Tolle books I've been reading recently including "The Power of Now" and "A New Earth" and I used the photoshop displacement map function to make the text appear to be written on the model's body, adapating it to her outline also.
